This is my last "missing" page for the calendars I'm making for the Craft Barn calendar challenge. The January prompts were aqua and snowflakes, and I really had trouble motivating myself to do this snowy scene, after all everything has at last melted around here and we are hoping for green things to sprout! I'm glad I decided to place a house in my image and post for the ongoing Craft Barn weekly challenge: that gave me the deadline I needed and a focal point for my scene. I love using stitching with collage, and I'm also posting for the Stampotique Designers challenge (stitches).
For the background I decided to make an experiment: embossing powder resist combined with acrylic paint. As can be seen, the snowflakes show quite well. I spread the paint with the side of a plastic card. The paint covered the embossed stamping, but came of with some wiping. I had to spread a second coat of paint, because my first wiping took of too much colour. I used underpaper collage for this page, and the blue is as close to "aqua" as my papers happen to be at the moment. I should have stamped more of the embossed flakes around the background, but after building the image it was already too late, so I added blue punched flakes.
Beautiful! Fab idea. Thanks for joining the Stampotique DC
