I chose a different perspective this time, just to show that I'm not the only one that has storage problems in this house. The opposite wall is bursting with a minor part of my husbands comic collection. Most of those cardboard boxes house comics too, I have no idea where he is wishing to build new bookshelves, since we have them everywhere... so even if I cleaned up my mess, this room wouldn't be neat! My socks are without knitting pins, because the dog ate four of them yesterday, while she was home alone, the only one left is sticking from the yarn.
As for the desk... My mum realized I'm using old book papers and offered to bring me some old book pages that they found in their attic. I said sure, and she brought me four age old books, printed between 1840 and 1890... lovely gothic style lettering. I complained that they were in too good shape to be wrecked, I had hoped they were so broken that the pages would have been spread around. Actually the larger one (on the right, under some templates) is moldy and broken enough, with pages missing already.

I tried doodling in some lettering for my art journal, only to realize I'm no good at it: after the second letter I just couldn't think of new doodles for the third... so I decided I need to practise. I've drawn some ferns on the card through a template, and I plan to check out tangle patterns on the web, and fill those in. Perhaps I can get that lettering in my art journal done after that! The silly wood veneer piece next to the ink box is for a mojo wheel that I plan to do for my art journal. I go to a wood craft class for fixing old furniture, and used some time to cut that out... it is to be seen if it will work the way I wish :)
I didn't have time to peek at many desks last week, but this Saturday I have a work trip, and I plan to use the bus time to snoop around other WOYWW desks! Join in the fun!

Like your project ideas and that is a lovely fern stencil. I don't have much compunction about using old books (unless they might have some value for sale) as well, what use are they in an attic? Re-made into art they get a new lease of life. Hope your wood piece works out as you had planned! Happy WOYWW Cindy #50
VastaaPoistaHi Kristiina, I hope your dog is OK after eating three of your knitting needles! Looks like you could do with some more space (couldn't we all!) I dream of having a large studio space all to myself! I have the same problem with lettering. I'm looking for a book that might have different sets of hand lettered alphabets in them, so I could use it as a reference. I couldn't find any so far. I might try printing some alphabets using different computer fonts for this purpose. Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #52
VastaaPoistaI'm fond of old books.. in fact, I have a lot of them on my shelves. It had been years that I art journaled in such a book (I always bind 'new' art journals with thick, blank pages) but just last week I took one of these books to alter and started gessoing and working on the pages... it's lovely to see that old text shimmer through! Happy woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #51
VastaaPoistaWow lucky find from your mom..old books have such interesting coloring..kind of warm and yellow. I too am horrified to tear one up though..but if it is moldy and missing pages it will be ok :) Happy WOYWW Shel#71
VastaaPoistaThanks Mum! Sad loss of your knitting needles! hope the dog is not in stitches! LOL

I like old books too, but I do find it very hard to cut them up :)
VastaaPoistaHope your dog is ok. Did he swallow the knitting needles or just chew on them?
Thanks for dropping by earlier.
WOW your house looks like mine! I have a ton of stuff I need to go through too. Love the old books and I can't cut them up either. My daughters dog likes her knitting too and after losing several projects to him she has finally came up with a storage solution to keep him away from her stuff! Have a great week Vickie #33
VastaaPoistaYou have some great looking things on your desk and had to laugh at the dog eating your knitting pins, hope he is ok. There are some great tangles on the internet so I'm sure you'll find some great inspiration to fill your letters.
VastaaPoistaThanks for your lovely visit and I will definitely take more piccies of the view through the year, it's a lovely one I don't take for granted. Last year I took a photo of the same view of my garden every day for the whole year to see how it changed.

Hi Kristiina, I love the look of those old books. I recently found an old order book that my husband's mother used when ordering her groceries. I was amazed at the quality of it. Look forward to seeing what you do with the pages. Thanks for the visit and have a good week, Angela x 28
