A place worth going

The Chocolate Baroque colour challenge is featuring awesome colours right now... hope I have time for another project before it ends. The colours are shades of grey + yellow/orange.

I used Eastern Landscapes, did a bunch of masking to build my scene and coloured it with Distress inks. I have a stencil for making clouds that also has a moon/sun hole in the middle. After doing the stamping, I coloured the moon. I spritzed water and dabbed it dry, which gives nice blotches. I don't have the new grey DI from this year, so I just used Black Soot, trying to vary the amount of ink. I'm not very good with the blender (or perhaps the paper I used is problematic?), but I can live with the result. When I realized that the moon should be behind the clouds, it was too late to do anything about it, so I let it be :) I added some detail by using water to bleach out some colour from the rocks.

I love doing a touch of mail art to go with cards, so I took the lovely sentiment and trees from the set and used them to make a coordinated envelope. A bit dark, but lovely and mysterious!
